A Walmart customer in California paid just $129 for a PNY RTX 5070 after a store employee misplaced a price label. Reddit user "TransformersGuru" found the GPU on a shelf with a $129 tag positioned directly below it. The price actually belonged to a Corsair Nautilus 360 ARGB AiO liquid cooler, not to the graphics card sitting on the shelf.
Apparently, the RTX 5070 was locked inside a glass display case, with the wrong price tag sitting just below it. After the customer raised the issue with a store manager, Walmart accepted the mistake and sold the card at just $129. The buyer also purchased a $59 extended service plan for the card.
With tax included, the total came to $198.97. Thanks to recent RTX 50-series price hikes, the cheapest RTX 5070 listing on Amazon at the time was around $820, putting the total price well below a quarter of typical retail cost. Under California's consumer protection rules, retailers are required to honor a displayed shelf price even when it results from an error; however, that can vary on a case-by-case basis.
